Greetings, everyone! Welcome to The Commander Tavern! I am Demented Kirby and this is the 14th episode of one of the series on this channel, The Brewery. This series is all about brewing and deck techs - hopefully showcasing the spiciest of brews!

In this episode of The Brewery I present my take on Korvold, Fae-Cursed King. I built Shattergang Brothers when Commander 2013 came out; it was a typical stax build. When Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest came out in Commander 2015, I immediately added it to Shattergang Bros. However, on its own, Mazirek was so brutal, so I just turned it into a BG deck with Mazirek at the helm. I’ve been playing this strategy ever since. I was pumped when I saw Korvold, Fae-Cursed King. It has the card advantage built right into it as well as a triggered ability that cares about sacrifices. This video explains how to I plan to build the deck and why I chose the cards I did. The main strategy is to use sacrifice things for value as well as pumping Korvold to make it a huge beater. If you want to easily see the deck list and its stats, here’s the link: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/05-09-19-korvold-fae-cursed-king/?cb=1567656252

It’s important to note that many players don’t like playing against stax and if you build a presence too early on you might become the archenemy for the entirety of the match. Once you have a control of the table through stax effects, pick off opponents one at a time with a Korvold in order of greatest threat.

Personally, I prefer Mazirek to Korvold, but Korvold still looks like a super fun commander that many people can enjoy. It’s even going to be Brawl legal, if you’re into that. If you’re interested in how epic Mazirek can be as a commander, I have a Budget deck tech for it which you can find here: https://youtu.be/RqpW9Yvhw5Y
