Summary
The game kicked off with each player setting up their mana bases and casting their commanders. The spike was initially set by Aaron who commanded Thrasios/Dargo and casted 'Dockside Extortionist' and 'Bergy, God of Storytelling' which started a chain of events leading to a flurry of spells and counterspells in an attempt to gain control of the board. The turning point of the game was the fierce battle over 'Wheel of Fortune' with Aaron and Alex trading 'Flusterstorms' resulting in the wheel spell being countered. Aaron further pushed his advantage by attacking Jim with his commander Dargo, causing a significant amount of damage. However, the game was far from over as Eliot cast 'The Gitrog Monster' and initiated a number of plays in his turn to regain control.
Deck Strategies
Dargo, the Shipwrecker / Thrasios, Triton Hero
This deck aims to reduce the cost of Dargo to one mana, then repeatedly sacrifice and recast him, using Thrasios's ability to scry and draw cards.
The Gitrog Monster
This deck uses the Dakmor Salvage loop to generate card advantage and mana, setting up for a large finisher or combo.
Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy
The deck focuses on generating large amounts of mana to cast big creatures or potentially create infinite mana with a monolith.
Toxrill, the Corrosive
This is a blue-black control deck that uses Toxrill to clear the board of creatures, while also hiding some other tricks.
