Deck & Commander Strategies
Bruvac the Grandiloquent
Bruvac’s deck focuses on milling opponents via his enter-the-battlefield triggers, which are doubled by Alter of the Brood, aiming to whittle down libraries while controlling the board through disruption spells.
Lonis, Cryptozoologist
Lonis leverages clue tokens and ramp spells to generate card advantage and mana acceleration, supporting a build that combines a slow, value-oriented game plan with incremental advantage.
Tifa, Martial Artist
Tifa’s deck aims to rapidly build board presence and pump her commander with equipment and melee triggers, utilizing extra combat steps and limit break to deliver massive, repeated combat damage for a quick and explosive win.
Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods
Yarus employs morph creatures and haste to create aggressive, evasive threats, disrupting opponents and applying early pressure while leveraging interactions with face-down creatures for value.
Gameplay Insights

Desmond’s use of Tifa’s limit break combined with multiple combat phases and double strike was a game-ending sequence that capitalized on the deck’s aggressive equipment synergy.
- 2
Removing Propaganda early allowed Tifa’s deck to attack freely and apply lethal pressure before opponents could stabilize.
- 3
Josh’s milling strategy slowed opponents but lacked the defensive tools to survive against Tifa’s explosive damage output.
- 4
Eric’s use of morph creatures and haste created early combat pressure but was ultimately overwhelmed due to insufficient answers to Tifa’s rapid growth.

Gameplay Summary
The game began with Josh utilizing Bruvac the Grandiloquent’s mill abilities enhanced by Alter of the Brood to gradually grind down opponents’ libraries.
Kuzno's Lonis, Cryptozoologist deck focused on generating clues and ramping lands, while Eric’s Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods leveraged face-down creatures and haste to apply pressure.
Desmond’s Tifa, Martial Artist deck quickly established board presence with Tifa and equipment like Lion Sash and Reaver Cleaver to increase damage output and gain extra combat steps. A key turning point came when Desmond powered up Tifa to an enormous size using her limit break, combined with multiple combat steps and double strike, enabling him to take out Eric and Kuzno in consecutive combat phases.
This effectively cleared the way for Desmond to dominate the board with his aggressive equipment synergy and treasure generation.
Josh, despite ongoing milling efforts and disruption like Memory Erosion, could not keep pace with the explosive damage output from Tifa’s deck and conceded the game after Desmond’s final overwhelming attack.
