Rayami, First of the Fallen | Voltron - The Brewery [S01E06]

Greetings, everyone! Welcome to The Commander Tavern! I am Demented Kirby and this is the 6th episode of one of the series on this channel, The Brewery. This series is all about brewing and deck techs - hopefully showcasing the spiciest of brews!

In this episode of The Brewery I present my take on Rayami, First of the Fallen, just spoiled today. This video explains how to I plan to build the deck and why I chose the creatures I did. The main strategy is to include creatures with protection, hexproof, and indestructible in order to make it difficult for opponents to deal with Rayami, as well as creatures with choice combat keywords. CLARIFICATION: It should be noted that although I mention including Dictate of Erebos and Grave pact in order to get even more value out of our creatures’ deaths to force opponents to sacrifice their own creatures in order to clear the way for Rayami, this will only work if Rayami isn’t in play. That’s because Rayami’s trigger is a replacement effect. Thus, on the battlefield, any death triggers from Dictate of Erebos and Grave Pact won’t work. So you’ll still be able to “destroy” opponents’ indestructible creatures with those enchantments, but not while Rayami is in play when you do. You make Rayami indestructible by sacrificing your own creatures with indestructible - which is why they’re in the deck. That being said, since they nonbo with Rayami in play, it’s understandable to want them out of the deck in lieu of two other better cards for it.
