Deck & Commander Strategies

Heartless Hidetsugu
Utilizes doubling damage effects combined with aggressive creatures and treasure tokens to quickly deplete opponents’ life totals.

Kenrith, the Returned King
Flexible midrange commander that can manipulate life totals, draw cards, and provide utility through various activated abilities.

Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy
Focuses on ramping mana quickly and generating combos with artifacts to produce infinite mana and execute game-winning plays.

Jetmir, Nexus of Revels
Token swarm deck that gains incremental advantages by producing numerous tokens and buffing them with the commander’s anthem effect, aiming for overwhelming combat damage.

Ratadrabik of Urborg
Graveyard recursion and sacrifice synergy deck that generates value from sacrificing creatures and reanimating threats.
Gameplay Insights
- 1
Nick’s use of Ocelot Pride and Anoch Strike Leader created multiple token armies that attacked from multiple angles, forcing opponents into difficult blocks and paving the way for a decisive victory.
- 2
Alex’s infinite mana combo with Basalt Monolith and Tesaret the Seeker was impressive but lacked a direct win condition, illustrating the importance of pairing combo potential with a reliable finish.
- 3
Cobblepot’s switch to Ratadrabik of Urborg mid-match showed adaptive gameplay, shifting from a more typical Kenrith strategy to a graveyard-focused plan to better interact with the board state.
- 4
Philip’s casting of Magus of the Moon disrupted opponents’ mana bases but was insufficient to counter the explosive token generation and combos developed by other players.
- 5
The interaction between dramatic reversal, come back wrong, and targeted removal highlighted the complex stack interactions that can dramatically alter board states in cEDH.

Gameplay Summary
The game started with all players developing their mana bases and setting up early board presence.
Nick, piloting Jetmir, Nexus of Revels, quickly established a strong token generation engine with creatures like Ocelot Pride and Anoch Strike Leader, ramping into a massive board state.
Alex, on Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy, used mana acceleration and artifact combos to generate infinite colorless mana with Basalt Monolith and Tesaret the Seeker, but was unable to convert this into a win before conceding to Nick’s overwhelming board.
Cobblepot initially played Kenrith but switched to Ratadrabik of Urborg for the second game, setting up a graveyard recursion and sacrifice synergy deck.
Philip, playing Heartless Hidetsugu, focused on dealing damage through doubling damage effects and treasure generation, but struggled to keep pace with the explosive token and combo strategies of the others.
The pivotal moment came when Nick leveraged his token army and buffs from Jetmir to deal massive damage and create a buffer of tokens, securing victory in the first game.
The second game showed more interaction and complex plays as Cobblepot adapted his deck, but the transcript ends before a conclusion is reached.
