Summary
The game started with players building up their mana bases and casting their commanders. Max, playing Jon Irenicus, hoped to capitalize on the commander's ability to distribute +1/+1 counters to other players' creatures. The game saw a series of board wipes, with Nick casting Kaya's Wrath and Max playing All is Dust, keeping the board state in constant flux. Max's strategy of using Jon Irenicus's ability to distribute +1/+1 counters and control the board was, for the most part, successful. However, a pivotal moment occurred when an overloaded Rise and Shine, played by the Shorikai player, animated all of their artifacts, resulting in a huge swing of damage. Towards the end, Max managed to control the board again with Jon Irenicus and Sakashima to deliver lethal damage.
