Deck Strategies
Meren of Clan Nel Toth
Utilizes sacrifice and reanimation loops to gain incremental advantage through creature recursion and incremental value, aiming for attrition-based victory.
General Tazri
Leverages five-color access to tutor and deploy a variety of powerful creatures and value engines, focusing on tokens, life gain, and incremental board control.
Karador, Ghost Chieftain
Executes a graveyard recursion strategy focused on sacrificing creatures to gain value and reanimating them, often with disruptive and anthem effects like Elish Norn to dominate board state.
Ezuri, Renegade Leader
Builds a fast elf tribal board with tokens and mana ramp to overwhelm opponents quickly, using anthem effects and token synergy to close out games.
Gameplay Insights
- 1
Using Visceri Seer to sacrifice Birds of Paradise to scry and control topdeck quality was an early value play for Meren.
- 2
Karador's reanimation of Elish Norn early in the game effectively stalled opponents' board development by imposing a harsh board state restriction.
- 3
Jason's use of Wirewood Lodge to untap Elvish Archdruid and cast Ezuri with additional mana acceleration was key to quickly establishing a large elf army.
- 4
Marco's sacrifice of Academy Rector to Carrion Feeder to tutor Living Plane demonstrated Karador's ability to combo and secure a win condition.
- 5
Fleshbag Marauder was employed as a sacrifice outlet to disrupt opponents but was ultimately insufficient against Karador's overwhelming board presence.
- 6
The game pace and power disparity showed how early board stalls and targeted removal can be insufficient against a well-tuned graveyard recursion and token synergy deck.

Summary
The game started with steady ramp and setup from all players, with each establishing their mana base and early board presence. Jason, piloting Ezuri, Renegade Leader, quickly developed an elf token army, using mana dorks like Elvish Archdruid and ramp spells such as Green Sun's Zenith. Marco's Karador deck gained an early advantage through a strong reanimation play, bringing back Elish Norn, a powerful anthem effect that severely hindered opponents' board development. This forced other players to make suboptimal plays or lose key creatures. Marin's Meren deck tried to control the board with sacrifice outlets and recursion tools, including Fleshbag Marauder and viscera seer, but was unable to keep pace with the fast elf tribal and combo synergy of Ezuri and Karador. Josh with General Tazri also contributed some token and lifegain effects but was similarly overwhelmed by the board state. The game ended when Marco leveraged Karador’s synergy with sacrifice and reanimation, using creatures like Carrion Feeder and Academy Rector to tutor and deploy Living Plane, solidifying his dominant position and prompting a scoop from all players.
