Gameplay Insights

  • 1

Grenzo's pilot used Lion's Eye Diamond and multiple mana rocks to generate a large mana pool before casting Doomsday, demonstrating precise sequencing to minimize mana spent and maximize resources.

  • 2

The use of Grenzo's ability to put key Goblin synergy creatures onto the battlefield enabled a quick combo finish involving sacrifice triggers and recursive threats.

  • 3

Early disruption attempts, such as targeted removal and discard, were insufficient to stop the fast Doomsday pile assembly, highlighting the importance of speed in cEDH metas.

  • 4

Casting Entomb and other graveyard setup cards early allowed for flexible responses and combo pieces to be retrieved efficiently.

  • 5

Players carefully managed their life totals and card draws to maintain options, but the explosive nature of Grenzo's combo overwhelmed the pod quickly.

Summary

The game began with a tense early phase where players developed their mana bases and set up key pieces. Greasefang quickly established board presence with efficient mana acceleration and discard effects, while Grenzo focused on assembling a combo with Lion's Eye Diamond and Doomsday. Grenzo's pilot executed a flawless Doomsday sequence, stacking a winning pile and using Grenzo's ability along with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and other sacrifice outlets to generate infinite value and close out the game rapidly. The other players, including Brallin and Shabraz, attempted to develop their own strategies but were unable to respond effectively to the explosive Doomsday combo and the ensuing Goblin tribal synergies from Grenzo's deck. The game ended swiftly after this combo resolved, showcasing the raw power and speed of Grenzo's turbo Doomsday plan.
