A token-generation deck that leverages squirrel synergies to flood the board, applying pressure and potentially comboing with other pieces for a win.

Gameplay Insights

  • 1

Rograkh's player executed an early infinite mana combo using Eternal Witness and Displacer Kitten, allowing for repeated activation and infinite resource generation.

  • 2

Despite the Boros stax deck attempting to establish control with equipment and disruption, it was unable to prevent the combo from assembling due to slow early development and lack of interaction.

  • 3

The quick combo finish with lightning bolts was a decisive play that ended the game before the stax player could leverage their strategy.

  • 4

Using Skullclamp on tokens was an important card draw engine but required a board presence of one-ones which was not immediately available.

  • 5

Mana acceleration with artifacts like Soul Ring and Mox Amber was crucial for ramping into key spells and combo pieces.

Summary

The game started with each player developing their board state using mana acceleration and early plays. Queen Kayla bin-Kroog's player focused on setting up equipment and mana rocks, while Armix/Thrasios aimed to ramp into powerful artifacts and creatures for value. Rograkh/Thrasios and Chatterfang players also established board presence, but the biggest turning point came when Rograkh/Thrasios assembled an infinite mana combo early in the game. Utilizing Eternal Witness and Displacer Kitten, Rograkh was able to generate infinite colorless mana, then used lightning bolts to quickly eliminate the opponents. This fast combo finish prevented the Boros player from fully leveraging the stax elements in their deck, ending the game abruptly.
