The game started off with each player showcasing their commanders and the strategies they planned to employ. Travis, with Urza, Chief Artificer, was the first to make a significant move by playing Mystic Forge, allowing him to cast artifacts from the top of his deck. This was followed by Brian's move, playing Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief with a Sneak Umbra attached to it. The game took a significant turn when Travis managed to take control of Brian's Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin with Sower of Temptation, only for it to be stolen by Julian 'Pastrytime' Carr's Gavi, Nest Warden. With the board state becoming more complex, the players continued to build their strategies, with Olivia playing Orvar, the All-Form and Brian casting Bear Umbra on Ivy.
