Summary

The game started with each player establishing their respective strategies, with Rin and Seri setting up a control and combo-oriented board using cards like Carpet of Flowers and Mind Sensor to disrupt opponents. Subira focused on an aggressive creature-based strategy aiming to go wide and combo off with Conspicuous Snoop and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. Vito's deck ramped and drew cards to assemble a life-drain combo involving Exquisite Blood. Niambi controlled the board while slowly gaining card advantage and aimed for an attrition or combo win. Early turns saw impactful plays like Impact Tremors dealing incremental damage, Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale restricting creature presence, and Goblin Sharpshooter enabling multiple creature sacrifices and untaps to control the board. A key turning point was Ryan's (Subira) assembly of the Conspicuous Snoop and Kiki-Jiki combo, which he attempted to protect with bounce spells like Chain of Vapor to avoid board wipes and removal. Mike (Rin and Seri) built up a treasure generation engine with Dockside Extortionist and used Imperial Recruiter to tutor key pieces, maintaining pressure with creatures like Dronny and Magistrate. Folger (Vito) leveraged card draw and hand disruption, including Inquisition of Kozilek, to control threats while searching for his combo pieces. Adam (Niambi) played a slow but controlling game with cards like Looter Ilk and Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, stabilizing the board and preparing to leverage his gain and control tools. The game featured multiple interactions around sacrifice outlets, creature control, and incremental damage, setting up for eventual combo wins or board dominance by the aggressive or combo-oriented players.

We do want to quickly say that M21 had some decent cards for CEDH, but it didn’t really give us a lot in the way of competitive commanders. We did do our best to tune our decks as best we could for a CEDH setting, but in all honesty, they probably ended up on the 7-8 power scale when all is said and done.
