Deck Strategies

  • Slobad, Iron Goblin

    Slobad, Iron Goblin

This deck focuses on utilising artifact synergies with Slobad's ability to generate advantage and deal damage. The win condition was achieved by sacrificing artifacts such as Bosh, Iron Golem and Wormcoil Engine to deal damage.

  • Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa

    Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa

Ixhel's deck is built around counter manipulation and poison counters. The deck attempted to win through infect damage, but was ultimately outpaced by the other players.

  • Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres

    Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres

Ezuri's deck seemed to focus on token generation and buffing tokens to apply pressure on the opponents. Despite some powerful attacks, the deck could not secure the win.

  • Neyali, Suns' Vanguard

    Neyali, Suns' Vanguard

Neyali's deck uses token generation and anthem effects to create a formidable army. The deck was able to deal significant damage but fell to the artifact synergies of Slobad's deck.

Gameplay Insights

  • 1

Mary's use of 'Smell Fear' to proliferate her creature's counters and fight with Neyali was a significant interaction that led to the first commander loss.

  • 2

Grape's attack on Mary, which resulted in a massive 42 damage, was a major turning point in the game, eliminating one player early on.

  • 3

Mai's attempt to deal infect damage using Ixhel and Skittles demonstrated the threat of infect in Commander, but ultimately couldn't keep up with the increasing threats on the board.

  • 4

Bear's use of Slobad's ability to sacrifice artifacts for advantage was a key theme throughout the game, culminating in his final turn where he used Scrap Mastery to deal the final damage to Grape.

Summary

The game started off slowly with players building their boards and casting their commanders. The first major interaction was when Mary used 'Smell Fear' to proliferate her creature's counters and fight with Neyali, which resulted in a loss for both Neyali and Pollen Bright Druid. Grape later retaliated by attacking Mary with his creatures, resulting in a massive 42 damage and eliminating her from the game. The game continued with players casting spells and attacking each other, with Mai taking a significant amount of damage from Grape's creatures. Mai was eventually eliminated from the game after receiving damage from Grape's warriors. The final showdown was between Bear and Grape. Despite Bear's effort to deal damage to Grape using Bosh, Iron Golem and Wormcoil Engine, Grape managed to survive and retaliate with Felidar Retreat, an Angel token, and his commander Neyali. Bear used his deck's artifact synergies to bring back Wormcoil Engine and Bosh, ultimately dealing the final blow to Grape with Scrap Mastery, winning the game.
