Deck & Commander Strategies

  • Phelddagrif

    Phelddagrif

This deck focuses on assembling a shuffle Hulk combo that wins by generating infinite Hippo tokens and overwhelming opponents. It uses disruption and resource management to survive long enough to combo off.

  • Sidisi, Brood Tyrant

    Sidisi, Brood Tyrant

Sidisi’s Flash Hulk deck leverages Flash creatures and Necrotic Ooze combos to assemble powerful combos quickly. It also uses Hermit Druid and other graveyard interactions to enable its combo lines.

  • Zur the Enchanter

    Zur the Enchanter

Zur controls the game with stax elements like Arcane Laboratory, Humility, and Rest in Peace to slow down opponents and lock the board. It uses a Zuran Consultation package to find win conditions and disrupt opponents’ strategies.

  • Marath, Will of the Wild

    Marath, Will of the Wild

Marath employs a Blood Pod variant strategy, applying constant pressure with efficient creatures and disruption like Rest in Peace and Null Rod. Marath can pump creatures and finish opponents through incremental damage and combat tricks.

Gameplay Insights

  • 1

Folger’s use of Karn, the Great Creator to animate Null Rod into a creature under Humility’s effect was a critical interaction that allowed Null Rod to remain a strong threat rather than becoming a 1/1, enabling lethal attacks.

  • 2

Mike’s early casting of Humility severely disrupted creature-based strategies, forcing Phelddagrif and Sidisi players to adjust their plans and slow down their combo assembly.

  • 3

Ryan’s timely use of Nature’s Claim to destroy Survival of the Fittest prevented Garrett from easily tutoring and assembling his Flash Hulk combo.

  • 4

Folger’s deployment of Rest in Peace early in the game effectively shut down graveyard-based combos, which are pivotal for Sidisi and Phelddagrif decks.

  • 5

The coordinated attack on Mike by all other players after Humility’s deployment demonstrated a strategic choice to eliminate the biggest bottleneck to their plans.

Gameplay Summary

The game began with a tense board state featuring four competitive commanders: Phelddagrif, Sidisi, Marath, and Zur.

Early plays saw Folger establish a strong board with Marath, Will of the Wild, quickly casting impactful creatures such as Serra Ascendant and Spirit of the Labyrinth, while also deploying disruptive enchantments like Rest in Peace and Null Rod to stifle opponents' combo lines.

Mike, piloting Zur, used stax elements such as Humility to severely hinder creature-based strategies, temporarily neutralizing the board's power.

Despite this, Folger cleverly animated Null Rod with Karn, the Great Creator, turning it into a lethal threat and eventually killing Mike by pumping Null Rod with Kessig Wolf Run, shifting the momentum heavily in Marath’s favor. Meanwhile, the Flash Hulk decks piloted by Ryan (Phelddagrif) and Garrett (Sidisi) struggled to find their footing under the oppressive stax effects and timely removal.

Ryan’s Phelddagrif deck tried to set up its shuffle Hulk combo by managing resources and using Nature's Claim to disrupt Survival of the Fittest, while Garrett's Sidisi deck worked to assemble its Flash Hulk and Necrotic Ooze combos but was slowed by Rest in Peace and Null Rod.

After Humility left the battlefield, Garrett was able to stabilize somewhat, but the game had already swung towards Folger's aggressive disruption and creatures, culminating in his victory after eliminating Mike.

Overall, the game showcased a battle between stax disruption and combo attempts, with Marath’s resilient threats and artifact-based disruption proving decisive.
