Kyle's use of Veil of Summer at the critical moment to protect Food Chain from counterspells was pivotal in enabling his combo to resolve successfully.

  • 2

The explosive start with Food Chain and Squee, combined with multiple mana rituals, allowed Kyle to generate massive mana and lock down the game quickly.

  • 3

John and Seth's lack of timely interaction and inability to disrupt Kyle's combo line contributed heavily to their downfall.

Summary

The Season 1 Championship game featured a high-stakes four-player cEDH match with The First Sliver, Tivit, Seller of Secrets, Azami, Lady of Scrolls, and Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. Kyle, piloting The First Sliver, took the first turn and quickly established a threatening board presence with ramp and a Food Chain combo setup involving Squee, the Immortal and Dark Rituals. Despite opposition and potential counters from the other players, Kyle managed to execute a massive mana loop generating overwhelming resources and flashing in opposition agents to lock down the table. The critical turning point was Kyle's successful use of Veil of Summer to protect his Food Chain combo from counterspells, allowing him to generate an enormous amount of mana and cascade into a game-winning loop. The other players, including John on Tivit and Seth on Prossh, struggled to find answers or meaningful interaction at the right time and were overwhelmed by the explosive start. Ultimately, Kyle's well-timed combo and resource management clinched the victory, securing the championship title for the season.
